Pontiac owners coming together in 2009 to celebrate classic Oaklands and historic Pontiacs. In July 2009, more than 5,000 people will be coming to the greater Dayton area from all over the U.S. to participate in an historic, combined convention of two national car collectors' associations — the GTO Association of America (GTOAA) and the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI). The five-day event is projected to have an economic impact on the region of more than $4 million dollars.

The GTOAA and the POCI car clubs have been holding separate conventions in different parts of the U.S. for more than 30 years. For the first time, these groups have decided to combine their annual conventions under one roof and have one "Co-Vention." The event will be held in Greene County at the

E.J. Nutter Center at Wright State University from July 7 to 11, 2009. More than 2,000 vintage Pontiac, Oakland and GTO cars as well as GMC trucks will be on display. Many of these vehicles are extremely rare and valuable. The Co-Vention will be open to the public on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at no charge.

These groups are working closely with the Greene County Convention and Visitors Bureau (GCCVB). The GCCVB also recognizes this event as a business opportunity for area merchants and invites them to contact Lisa Willis, GCCVB sales manager, at (937) 429-9100.

For information about the GTOAA/POCI Co-Vention 2009, contact event chairman John Spiess at (513) 276-6909.
